Katie Farmin is a writer, actor, director, musician, and circus artist from Albuquerque, New Mexico. They received their MFA in Dramatic Writing program at the University of New Mexico in May 2024.
In 2017 Katie joined Tricklock Company as a company member and a core staff member for The Revolutions International Theatre Festival. Katie has trained with Stereo Akt of Hungary and Engine of Argentina and France. In 2016 they co-created and performed EllieIda which performed at The Revolutions International Theatre Festival, the Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival, The Boulder Fringe Festival, and The Chicago Fringe Festival, winning numerous festival awards. Recently, they created Package Play, a sensory audio prompt performance that audiences received through the mail, which received a Drama League nomination in 2021. In 2023, they were honored to be a New Mexico New Voices Fellow with Stowe Story Labs.
Katie has been practicing circus arts for almost a decade specializing in aerial silk, hammock, lyra, and stilt walking. She is a company member and instructor at Airdance New Mexico, a collaborative performance company specializing in the aerial arts. In 2024 Katie became the current Director of Circo ABQ, A summer circus program that trains youth 7-13 years old in Albuquerque, NM. She has worked and trained with the program for over 10 years, teaching circus and leadership skills to program students and youth leaders.
Katie is a member of Karen, a synth-pop indie rock trio based in Albuquerque, NM. Karen's 2019 EP We Reach The Moon is heavily influenced by the sounds of synth-pop and riotgrrrl. Their song Snake Gladiator was featured in the award-winning short film Fire Fucking Fire, which was an official selection at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival.
Katie is a multidisciplinary artist, always adding new skills and experiences to their repertoire. Their creative rigor propels them to explore new ways to artistically express themselves and their understanding of human history and identity. They are a proud first-generation Argentinian-American and are dedicated to amplifying Latine work. She is honored to produce and experience art in her home state of New Mexico and strives to amplify southwestern art and artists wherever she can share her work.
